Dealing with Anxiety in Orange County

Orange County California is a beautiful place to live. We have sunny beaches, snowy mountains, world famous shopping malls, music venues, amusement parks… list goes on and on.

While it looks heavenly from the outside, daily life in the O.C. can be a real grind. It’s easy to become over-stimulated, undernourished and sleep deprived in our race to get through school, start a career, qualify for a mortgage, pay off debts, find a mate, raise children, etc…

Needless to say, many of us “locals” don’t actually have the time or ability to enjoy a day at the beach.

What is Anxiety?

It’s a tightness in your chest and an emotional flood.  Anxiety can make your mind race and your body freeze in a single moment.  Anxiety is something we can see in the faces of the people we love and feel in our own hearts.

FACT: Anxiety disorders are the most commonly diagnosed mental illness, affecting an estimated 18% of Americans; that's 19 million adults yearly! The emotional strain of anxiety can cause physical symptoms as well including headaches, insomnia and high blood pressure.

Anxiety Orange County California Carla Naragon MFTMYTH – I must relive the painful details of my past in order to heal my anxiety.
TRUTH – Our bodies do not know the difference between a story, a memory or a current experience. Our nervous system just feels what it
feels. Working with the sensation of anxiety does not require reliving an event.
MYTH – Therapy is only for people who are weak and/or crazy.
TRUTH - Therapy is for anyone who is suffering from emotional and psychological pain.
MYTH – Acknowledging my pain will only make things worse.
TRUTH – Pouring energy into ignoring your pain will make you tired. Feelings and sensations are meant to be fluid. We create places for anxiety to stay stuck and accumulate when we choose to ignore it.

All feelings have a natural cycle that includes a beginning, middle and end. Treating anxiety isn’t difficult. Showing up for your first appointment can be. If you are ready, willing and able, then I can help you.

I will provide:

  • The safe and comfortable space
  • Complete confidentiality and professionalism
  • 15 years of experience helping people to integrate and heal emotional pain, causing them embrace life in a new and refreshing way
